Volunteer with the New Brunswick Community Land Trust
The Professional Pillars
- Treasurer / Bookkeeper: “Help us maintain the integrity of our trust. We are looking for someone comfortable with non-profit accounting to keep our ‘ledger of the land’ accurate and transparent.”
- Charitable Gift Administrator: “Are you detail-oriented? Help us process donations and issue charitable tax receipts, ensuring our supporters are recognized for their generosity.”
- Fundraising Strategist: “We have the vision; help us find the seeds. We need a creative fundraiser to help us secure grants and individual donations to move more land into community trust.”
The Governance Team
- Board of Directors: “We are looking for strategic thinkers to guide the FFCNB. Whether your background is in law, agriculture, or community organizing, help us steer the trust into its next 30 years.”
The Wisdom & Grounding
- Community Elders / Mentors: “Experience is our greatest fertilizer. We invite elders with a history in farming, forestry, or community building to serve as advisors, ensuring our ‘modern pivot’ remains rooted in local wisdom.”
- Soil & Land Evaluators: “Folks who can walk a piece of land and help us understand its health and potential for micro-farming.”
- Storytellers/Photographers: “Help us document the growth of our garden communities. We need people to capture the ‘before and after’ of the lands we protect.”
- Legacy Ambassadors: “People who are comfortable talking to older landowners about the benefits of donating land or easements to a trust.”
“It takes a village to tend the land.”
The NBCLT (FFCNB) is more than just a land-holding organization; we are a community-led movement. From the technical precision of bookkeeping to the ancestral wisdom of our elders, every volunteer role is a vital part of our mission to keep New Brunswick’s soil productive and community-owned.
